Role Interviewed For
( Associate Director )

Experience of interaction with Hiring manager/ Business Interview
Comment : Everything from getting a call from the recruiter to traveling and getting to flipkart offices for interviews went pretty fine. From there on it became pretty funny. The first interview started 30 mins late. Interviewer had a hard stop in 30 mins. Conversation was extremely hurried. 2nd interview was with hiring manager. I was ticked of by the contempt he had for my existing company (Amazon). He even ended up calling Jeff Bezos, Bojos. Didn’t expect that immaturity from a Director. However he did ask good questions to understand my role. The next few interviews were similar. The negative attitude was overwhelming. They were too proud of flipkart and didn’t seem open to ideas. I heard comments like “I am Director, I can’t get into that level of detailsâ€. Everyone seemed to be in a hurry to leave the room to fire fight something.
Got the offer in a couple of days. The offer was a raise on my fixed pay component, but total compensation was lesser than what I earned in Amazon. Hence a combination of bad interviews and bad offer resulted in not pursuing this. Post rejection the recruitment POC got defensive about the offer. Almost to a level of questioning my rejection disrespectfully. The hiring manager called for a follow up and gave some management gyan on how great the growth potential is to sell the role. But I didn’t budge. I did notice through LinkedIn that the hiring manager joined a different company about 6 months later.
